a well lived bland life
This weekend was the first weekend we had nothing going on for the entire weekend. While it was satisfying to have an entire weekend to spend working on our list of house projects it was also exhausting to have an entire weekend to spend working on house projects.
We returned from our latest summer vacation to find that a violent storm ravaged the trees of Ames showering our lawn with a few branches and a plethora of sticks and bark. We have a large tree in our backyard that has been taunting us with little pieces of bark and sticks all summer and this storm served as inspiration for the tree. I spent the afternoon today burning many said sticks. Pictured here is the just the sticks from our yard, none of the actual large branches.
My next accomplishment for this weekend was finally getting the sand for Nora's sandbox purchased and dumped into the tractor tire. Nora absolutely loves dirt. She's loved to eat it, this activity has mainly been stopped thanks to our constant barrage of "No", she's loved to play in it, she's loved to carry it around the yard, and she's loved to carry it into the house. Well, Nora's love for dirt is equaled by her love for sand. She had a blast playing in the sand.
Other projects I worked on this weekend include unpacking, what is hopefully, our last box, cleaning the shed, mowing, and trying to finish putting up baseboards in the final two rooms of our house. When we moved into our house we refinished the wood floors. I really love how the floors turned out, but wish I would have spent a couple extra days getting the baseboards painted and put back up before moving in. I will be really happy to see this project crossed of our list.
The weekend was a success although I believe I would need to take an entire month off of work to get all the projects around the house done, but once we got those done more would present themselves so I'll just have to be content I was able to get many done.
