a well lived bland life
Hi. My name is Mark and I'm an addict. A soda addict to be specific. Soda is the one substance I feel I'm addicted to. That, and occasionally coffee, but that's only because of the head aches that follow. So I've switched mostly to decaf....although now with the new baby I'm drinking more regular coffee.....where were we? Oh yea, soda. I freely admit that I'm addicted to soda. It's not that I consume mass quantities of soda. I average about one can or bottle per day. The disturbing part is that I feel...

Ames is flooded. After waking up this morning we checked the news and saw that Ames has basically become an island. The two rivers that run through Ames, Squaw Creek and Skunk River, are at levels higher than the flooding in 1993. I've been unable to find an exact measurement of how much rain fell, but I heard a rumor of about 9 inches. It appears that both Target and Walmart may have taken on water, although we'll have to wait to find out for sure. Many other business have obviously been flooded including HIlton...

Life has been good. My favorite kind of movie is the kind of movie where for most of the movie you’re totally confused as to what is going on, but by the end everything comes together in perfect harmony. I love the intricate planning and structuring that is required to make a film like that. You’re always left with a sense of awe and bewilderment. Movies that are like this would be “The Usual Suspects”, “Momento”, “Fight Club”, and “Lucky Number Slevin”. When you watch a movie like this you have to pay special attention...

On this day twenty-five years ago, my mother of twenty-four years old gave birth to me, after caring and nuturing a new life inside her womb for eight months and two weeks. She had to change her eating habbits, thought processes, and lifestyle all to look after this life inside of her. From my birth, through early childhood, and till the day I left their nest to set out on my own, my mother and father looked after me, doing what they could to lead me on the right path of life and providing the best they could along...
