I tried my hand at Photoshop tonight trying to remove/darken the background of a photo from this weekend and thought I would share my attempts. I'm not professional by any means and anyone who is Photoshop savvy might give me a long list of what I did wrong, but this is me declaring myself a novice.

Here's the picture I started with. My goal was to either darken or remove the background giving more focus on the three beautiful children in the foreground.

Here's what I was able to do with just darkening the background.

And lastly here is what I was able to do with removing the background altogether.
