Leaving on a Jet Plane
Well today is the last day before I leave for Myanmar. I will be leaving for the airport in Des Moines tomorrow morning at 5:30 AM, and our flight leaves at roughly 8:50. I will then be traveling for the next 30 hours and will arrive in Yangon, Myanmar on December 16th (after spending a brief night in Bangkok: flight arrives at 11pm and next flight leaves at like 6am). When I arrive it will still be the 15th here in Iowa, so I will actually be in the future. I wonder if they'll have flying cars in the future....?
I'm spending today crossing items off a long laundry list of last minute things to do and buy. Since 8:30 AM I have been running around Ames like a chicken with its head cut off, picking up random things here and there. Its 10:42 PM right now and I'm crazy exhausted and ready to just get on the plane and sleep, read, and listen to music on my new iPod, =). Its snowing quite heavily outside right now, which will probably hinder our travel to Des Moines 6 hours from now, but I'm sure we'll be safe.
It's hard to think a few days from now instead of shivering in the snow I'll be sweating in the humidity and heat. It's quite surreal actually.
So we're not exactly sure yet, but on the flight home we could possibly celebrate New Years twice (once in-flight, and once back in Iowa). When I get back I'll tell everyone all about the future and what 2006 brings.
Lastly I would like to encourage anyone who reads this to pray for our safety, purpose, and for those who will missing us during the holidays, and that God gives them peace of mind and heart, knowing that we are in His hands, and there's nothing better than that!
