    Grandma and her Appendix

So Grandma Sue, Mom's Mom, went into the hospital Saturday afternoon because she was experiencing pains in her stomach, and it turned out that she had Appendicitis and had to have her Appendix removed that night. I visited her Sunday and she was released Monday and is doing well.

While I was at the hospital my mom asked me if I had started taking my immunizations, at which I exclaimed, "Rut Row." I was supposed to start taking my prescription for Typhoid fever on the 1st of December (the previous Thursday). Of course I didn't remember again until I got home on Monday from work so I decided to call the pharmacy and make sure it was ok to start taking it this late. They told me to go ahead and start right away, but I read the package and it said in fairly large and bold lettersĀ Refrigerate, to which I asked the pharmacist how essential the refrigeration process was. She set the phone down, and came back in about 3 minutes and said that they couldn't tell me it was safe and that I would need to call my doctor. I was able to get a hold of somebody the next morning and they said they would call-in my prescription to the pharmacy. To make a long boring story short, my body is now fighting off Typhoid Fever and creating vital antibodies only 5 days behind schedule. Lesson learned: Typhoid Fever is expensive.

Another bit of excitement this week occurred when Steve called me and asked if I could check my plane tickets for the flight number of a certain ticket. I located and reported the flight number to Steve to hear him reply in frustration. It turns out that Steve, Chris, and Tim were all booked to fly on flight 304 the morning on the 30th, while I was on flight 306 the evening of the 30th. So I going to have to spend the entire day by myself in Yangon, Myanmar. Steve returned the ticket and got a replacement for the correct flight and all should now be straightened out. Steve said that actually nobody really wanted to fly with me so he did that on purpose to get a break from me...
