a well lived bland life
Today was a hectic but a fantastic day. I woke up with the sunrise and ran out to the beach to snap some pictures. Today is also Sylvia Law's birthday, even though she's back home in Iowa, here's a shout-out to her. We met in the morning for breakfast then followed with time of worship and then Doug Shiplett shared about the work that is going on currently in Cambodia and Laos. We were then given a paper that Mike Sanchez had written about the centrality of the church and everyone found a quiet spot to read through and reflect on it. Our time was then followed with lunch and beach-related games. We then ended the day with dinner and discussing the repircusions of the "Seek the welfar of the city" series that Crossings had just finished going through as a church. Today was our last full day in California and we will head home tomorrow afternoon. California was everything I expected in scenery and weather. I really enjoyed the weather and not having to put on a coat everytime I went outside. The lush green vegetation was a dramatic contrast to the reds, yellows, and greys of an Iowa fall. Iowa is beautiful during autumn, but the look and feeling of the scenery here tricks me into thinking that we're still in summer or spring. Anyway, tomorrow we go home and back to Iowa.
