a well lived bland life
If we shrink away from possible pain and misfortune would we ever do anything? If we get injurred or almost die in a car accident, do we never drive again, or never drive near that area again? Life is too short, why shrink back and live in fear? Instead battle forth in valiance and bravery to address our fears, beating them into submission, facing them head-on with God leading the charge. Can you imagine never again climbing a mountain - never again experiencing the vast beauty and breathtaking scenery of a mountain range? I can't. How much better would the view from the top of a mountain be if you had to confront and defeat a fear to get to the top - to have victory through God over it - how much more beautiful and awesome would the mountains then be? We were asked after the avalanche if we would go skiing again, to which Jordan answered, "We didn't get hurt skiing..". Instead we were hit by an avalanche driving home. I will not refrain from driving, and definitely not refrain from experiencing mountains again. Mountains to me display so much of God's beauty in Him and in His creation. Next Saturday I'm facing my obstacle head on - full steam ahead. I'm going back to Colorado to go skiing, and regardless of what happens, my God will be by my side.
