a well lived bland life
Our church wrapped up our international conference this weekend after having 70+ people from around 25 different countries flock to our church for a week and a half long training period. During their time at our church these foreign church leaders (some of whom are responsible for literally hundreds to thousands of churches in their home countries) stay in the homes of the members of our small little church and enjoy the hospitality of Christ's church.
Friday night Anna and I (along with Grandpa and Grandma Bland) went to the banquet celebrating the end of the conference. We enjoyed excellent food (prepared by the same friends who catered our wedding) and heard many stories from many of the visiting pastors. One such story was about two church leaders in Africa who went through things most of us can't even comprehend amidst a civil war that left one of the men without most of his family. His fellow pastor was fighting on the apposing side, and came to Christ through amazing circumstances and are now serving Christ together. The conference is our favorite time of the year and is also the heart of the ministry of our church. The conference was briefly covered by a local newspaper as well.
